Common fixes

My progress isn't showing on my other device

Make sure both devices are signed in to the same Apple ID with iCloud turned on for Brewlearn, then open Profile and tap Sync. Progress from both devices is merged, so nothing you learned is lost.

I'm not getting study reminders

Open Profile, tap "Turn on reminders" and allow notifications. You can choose the reminder time there too.

Leaderboards are empty or unavailable

Leaderboards use Game Center. Sign in to Game Center in your device settings, then reopen Brewlearn.

Thank you! Email us the lesson name and what looks wrong. Every code example is verified on a real JVM, but we take every report seriously.

Frequently asked questions

Can I really learn Java without typing code?

Yes. Brewlearn teaches by reading, predicting and reasoning about real Java code: what it prints, where the bug is, which fix is best and why. That builds the mental model you need to write Java confidently later, without fighting a phone keyboard. Every snippet you see is real Java whose output has been verified on a real JVM.

Is Brewlearn good for complete beginners?

Yes. The Beginner tier starts with "What is Java?" and explains every term the first time it appears. If you already code, onboarding lets you jump straight to the Intermediate or Advanced tier.

What Java version does Brewlearn teach?

Brewlearn targets Java 25 LTS, including modern features like records, sealed classes, pattern matching for switch, virtual threads, scoped values and stream gatherers. Lessons note which version introduced a feature.

Will it help me prepare for Java interviews?

Yes. Every concept includes interview-style questions, and the Advanced tier covers the topics interviews love: HashMap internals, equals and hashCode, concurrency, the Java Memory Model, garbage collection, design patterns and Big-O.

How long does it take each day?

About 5 to 10 minutes: a short memory review, one new lesson and the Daily Challenge. You choose a daily goal from 20 to 100 XP, and the streak counter keeps you coming back.

How does Brewlearn help me remember what I learn?

A spaced-repetition engine schedules every concept to come back right before you would forget it: after 1, 3, 7, 14 and 30 days and beyond. Questions you got wrong return until you get them right.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone, iPad and Mac, as a native app on each. Your progress, streak and achievements sync through iCloud, so you can learn on your phone and continue on your Mac.

Do I need to install Java or an IDE?

No. Everything happens inside the app. When you are ready to write your own programs, the lessons explain how to install a JDK and run code.

How much does Brewlearn cost?

Free to download. Download it from the App Store and start your first lesson in under a minute.
